By CBJ staff

A renown resource for Catholic educators, The Institute for Catholic Liberal Education, announces its conference and retreat line-up for Summer 2020.  After sudden lockdowns and being forced to re-invent classroom teaching on a dime, Catholic educators nationwide are ready for a break.  Why not take a break that truly reinvigorates your vocation as a teacher, the reason you felt called to teach in the first place?  Look no further because THESE opportunities below will refresh your teaching soul in ways you couldn’t imagine.   See for yourself…

ICLE National Conference – ONLINE:  July 29-30

Online Event:  We must move our largest annual gathering to an online format. A pre-conference introductory session will be Calling Catholic Educators: The Institute for Catholic Liberal Education has you covered this summer...held July 28; the main conference will be held July 29-30.

Heartened by reports we have received these past two months from ICLE Member Schools all over the nation, we are excited to adjust our original conference theme to respond to this unprecedented moment in history: From Wonder to Wisdom–at School & at Home

At this conference we will explore a claim that we believe COVID-19 has made resoundingly clear: authentic Catholic education is pandemic-proof. Our plenary speakers will defend this claim at the level of mission and vision, and our breakout presenters will share knowledge and tools to support it from a practical perspective. Our goal is twofold: (1) to provide participants with rich content that will nurture their vocation as Catholic educators and (2) to arm them with a message of strength and hope that can be shared with the communities they serve during this time of great uncertainty. Registration and details can be found here.

The Spirit & Craft of Teaching in the Catholic Liberal Arts TraditionJune 22-26

In Person event:  This program will be held in the Warwick Hotel in downtown Denver, with daily Masses at the nearby Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. This is our most hands-on, sequential teacher training program, with very limited space. Register here.

Academic Retreat for Teachers: July 13-16

In-Person event:  The Academic Retreat for Teachers gives teachers, administrators, and board members a chance to rekindle their passion for learning while exploring the foundations of Catholic education with colleagues from around the country. The 2020 retreat will once again be led by Dr. Andrew Seeley, ICLE’s Director of Advanced Formation. The University of Dallas, a faithful Catholic university committed to the pursuit of wisdom, truth, and virtue, will provide an ideal setting for reflection in community. Register here
