John Abbate has three passions — faith, family, and business. Over the last decade he has become acutely aware of the challenge associated with balancing God’s desire for us to live an authentic Christian life in each of these realms, while navigating through a temporal and overly secular world of contradictory purpose and pressure.
John resides in central California. He and his wife Karen have three children: Matthew, Kathryn, and Andrew.
He holds a bachelor of business administration in economics from the University of San Diego, a master of business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Notre Dame Mendoza School of Business, and a master’s degree in Catholic theology from the Augustine Institute.
John is a strategic adviser to The Dynamic Catholic Institute, serves on the board of Mission College Prep Catholic High School, and supports numerous local and regional non-profit initiatives such as Ronald McDonald House Charities, JMJ Maternity Homes, and various other Catholic evangelization ministries.
As an owner of McDonald’s Restaurants throughout the central San Joaquin Valley of California, John is a well-known public speaker on a wide range of business topics such as brand strategy, entrepreneurship, leadership, and management. However, as a Catholic, John believes we all have a unique role to play in the New Evangelization movement of the 21st Century. He is compelled and challenged by the call of Saint Pope John Paul II to “Place your intelligence, your talents, your enthusiasm, your compassion, and your fortitude at the service of life.” Further inspired by Saint Josemaria Escriva’s theology of sanctification of our work and his own personal experience, John now speaks with passion and purpose about his Catholic faith journey, pro-life endeavors, the dangers of moral relativism, and commitment to the integration of faith, family, and work in our everyday life.
Through his speaking and witness, John hopes that others will also be inspired to discover their unique role in the New Evangelization of the Catholic Church. With twenty-five years experience as a business owner/partner with McDonald’s, and years working with men and women from all demographics, John possesses a distinct perspective into the challenges that Catholic leaders face today. John hopes to offer insight into the arduous task of incorporating the gospel message within the overly secular, legislative, and competitive culture of today.
John advocates his mission and message at Catholic colleges and universities, professional business groups, parishes and conferences across America.
