The Center for Medical Progress: Suppression of Undercover Videos May Be Linked to the Sale of Bodies from “Born-Alive Infants”

August 3, 2015

Special to the Catholic Business Journal by Thomas M. Loarie

NAPA, CA –BREAKING NEWS:  David Daleiden, the investigative journalist best known for recently releasing videos culled from a 30-month-long investigation documenting Planned Parenthood’s illegal sale of body parts from aborted fetuses, said Saturday that there is much more to reveal.

Speaking Saturday during a session on “pro-abortion myths” at the Fifth Annual Napa Institute, Daleiden explained that a temporary restraining order obtained by StemExpress, a Placerville, CA-based company included in Daleiden’s investigation, was “trying to suppress an admission by StemExpress that it had received fully-intact bodies of babies from Planned Parenthood.”

“This represents prima-facie evidence that Planned Parenthood sold the bodies of born-alive infants to StemExpress,” Daleiden said.

Daleiden founded The Center for Medical Progress (CMP) and its Human Capital Project, under which the two-and-a-half-year investigative research was gathered,

When asked about the suppression of additional undercover videos, Daleiden responded that more videos will be released, including one this week, saying: “We have a lot of footage that falls outside this and another restraining order…We have anywhere from eight to 10 more videos — the exact number could vary, but I predict a dozen, give or take, when everything is said and done….There is much more to reveal.”

Critics have complained that the videos are heavily edited.  When asked about this concern, Daleiden said that complete, unedited videos are available on YouTube, noting that this is unlike “news outlets that heavily edit their stories without providing access to the full conversation.”

Daleiden was joined in his presentation by Lila Rose, founder of Live Action, which is a youth-led organization dedicated to building a culture of life and advancing human rights.  Rose began releasing undercover videos on cover-ups by Planned Parenthood nine years ago when she was a student at UCLA.  She said her work has provided video evidence documenting Planned Parenthood cover-ups of child sexual abuse, racism, deceptive and manipulative counseling, sex-trafficking, sex-selective abortion, infanticide, false advertising and fraud.

The documented revelations released by CMP precipitated a vote by the U.S. Senate on whether to stop federal funding of Planned Parenthood that is set to take place today, Monday, August 3.  The measure is not expected to pass the Senate because the required bi-partisan support is likely to fall short of the needed 60-vote threshold. That said, 2016 presidential candidate and Kentucky GOP Senator Rand Paul expressed on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday (Aug 2), “I think most Americans don’t want their tax dollars going to this. When something is so morally repugnant to so many people, why should tax dollars go to this?”

For more information about David Daleiden and The Center for Medical Progress, go to http://www.centerformedicalprogress.org.  CMP describes itself as “a group of citizen journalists dedicated to monitoring and reporting on medical ethics and advances,” “concerned about contemporary bioethical issues that impact human dignity” and opposing “any interventions, procedures and experiments that exploit the unequal legal status of any class of human beings…”

For more information about one of the companies included in CMPsinvestigation, StemExpress, go to www.StemExpress.com.  StemExpress describes itself as “a multi-million dollar company that supplies human blood, tissue products, primary cells and other clinical specimens to biomedical researchers around the world to fuel regenerative medicine and translational research.  Founded in 2010, [they] offer the largest variety of raw material in the industry as well as fresh, fixed and cryopreserved human primary cells.” Their products and services description includes “human tissue products” that “range from fetal to adult and healthy to diseased…” The company’s promise includes “protecting the privacy of our researchers and donors is always the highest priority at StemExpress…”

About the Napa Institute – The Napa Institute was formed to help Catholic leaders face the challenges posed in the “next America” — to continue the work of the Apostles and their successors, the Bishops, heeding Christ’s call for ongoing evangelization. By leading participants to a deeper understanding of the truth behind the faith, the Napa Institute emboldens Catholics to live and defend their faith with a peaceful confidence that is borne out of solid formation, fellowship and spiritual enrichment.
